ABSTRACT This paper discusses the process design and layout of the Constancia Project comminution circuit. The circuit consists of a 60 x 113 primary crusher, two 16 MW SAG mills and two 16 MW ball mills.
Methods of estimating SAG mill volumes, mill charges, feed size and power consumptions and optimum speeds of rotation during operation are described. The operation and mechanism of grinding and size reduction is explained with the help of solved mathematical examples. Computation for determining SAG power index is illustrated.
Rely on our proven track record of SAG and AG Mill superiority. Since the early 1980s, we have been designing and manufacturing SemiAutogenous (SAG) and Autogenous (AG) Grinding Mills under the FullerTraylor brand. Semiautogenous grinding uses a minimal ball charge in the range of 615% while autogenous grinding uses ore only.

The SAG mill pinion energy, W SDT (kWh/t) and SAG discharge Bond ball mill work index, S dBWI (kWh/t), are then used to calculate the total energy to grind the ore from 80% passing 152 mm to 80% passing the client specified final product size P information, along with the ore specific gravity, is used to calculate necessary mill sizes and motor power in industrial appliions.

Jun 06, 2016 · Based on experience, millliner designs have moved toward more openshell lifter spacing, increased pulp lifter volumetric capacity, and a grate design to facilitate maximizing both pebblecrushing circuit utilization and SAG mill capacity. As a guideline, mill throughput is maximized with shell lifters between ratios of :1 and :1.
In the Trimble program, design engineers can define tolerances that are used by the program to determine sags, tensions, temperatures, and arc lengths. This has eliminated the manual or supplemental calculations and further enhanced modeling accuracy. Annealing Factor
SAG mill power includes a correction for the interstitial mill filling. In the case of the estimated ball mill power, the power was calculated using the Bond methodology. Table 4 shows the principle parameters obtained. The 25th percentile throughput rate corresponds to the 75th percentile Axb value.
SAG mill. SAG is an acronym for semiautogenous grinding. SAG mills are autogenous mills that also use grinding balls like a ball mill. A SAG mill is usually a primary or first stage grinder. SAG mills use a ball charge of 8 to 21%. The largest SAG mill is 42' () in diameter, powered by a .

Design SAG mill production when you need it most: In day 1 . mended to use a ''mill design by ore hardness measurement and calculation'' method, similar to Bond methodology, except including a sAG test. Good samples, test accuracy and understanding the basic principles of sAG mill design and operation, are the keys to make this possible.
Jan 02, 2018 · For simplified analysis, some of the design engineers assume that the curve is parabolic. The parabolic approximation is only true if the sag is small as compared with the span length which happens mostly on the distribution lines. Although the formula is quite complex, it is always recommended to follow enary calculations.

SAG Mill Grinding Circuit Design. AG and SAG mills are now the primary unit operation for the majority of large grinding circuits, and form the basis for a variety of circuit configurations. SAG circuits are common in the industry based on: High singleline capacities (leading to capital efficiency) The ability to mill a broad range of ore ...
John Starkey, P. Eng. has worked in SAG mill hardness testing since 1964 where he worked as pilot plant engineer for A. MacPherson's projects. He invented the SPI and SAGDesign tests. The latter is now acknowledged by our clients to be a worldclass method for grinding circuit design, and is accepted by our peers as a standard for ore hardness testing.
