A slump test involves filling an inverted, bottomless cone with the concrete mixture. A Styrofoam or paper cup with the bottom removed makes a good bottomless cone. Make sure to pack the concrete several times while filling the cone. Carefully remove the cone by lifting it straight upward. Place the cone beside the pile of concrete.
10/12/2018 · Required slump can be determined based on the structural element type. Maximum aggregate size and slump value can be used to determine quantity of water for 1 meter cubic of concrete.
Slump test as per IS: 1199 – 1959 is apparatus used for doing slump test are Slump cone and Tamping rod. Procedure to determine workability of fresh concrete by slump test. i) The internal surface of the mould is thoroughly cleaned and applied with a light coat of oil.
The slump test is the most simple workability test for concrete, involves low cost and provides immediate results. Due to this fact, it has been widely used for workability tests since 1922. The slump is carried out as per procedures mentioned in ASTM C143 in the United States, IS: 1199 – 1959 in India and EN 123502 in Europe .
08/10/2004 · The 4 to 5inch slump for decorative concrete is a relatively stiff mixture, but not quite as stiff as the 2 to 3inch slump seen here. A higher slumped concrete is more more fluid and will flow some distance on its own. Photo courtesy of MC Magazine, National Precast Concrete Association. "If you use excessive amounts of water, sometimes ...
05/07/2021 · Requirement of concrete workability varies with different types of construction. Workability of concrete is decided by design engineers based on concrete strength requirements, durability requirements and ease of construction at site. For a constr...
K Slump Tester. The Kslump tester provides a fast approximate determination of slump and workability of wet concrete. Can be used to measure slump in buckets, wheelbarrows, readymix truck chutes, as well as inplace forms and test molds. The tester is capable of indiing a fairly accurate correlation to an actual slump test. The probe can ...
28/03/2015 · To me, measuring slump for any concrete mix serves as a sanity check more than anything. If you have 20 trucks with the same slump range, and the 21st truck is way off, could be indiive of a problem with that concrete before it is placed. ... (>1 or 2 meters). It becomes fichy when the cables converge to a single point. So the spacing will ...
The H3635 Deluxe Slump Cone Set includes the Standard Cone Set plus a brush, scoop and funnel to aid in filling the slump cone. Maturity Meters Concrete maturity testing assesses compressive strength, supporting ASTM C107. The testing can aid in decisions regarding concrete curing conditions and .
Slump adjustment is a fact of life for concrete contractors, but they should follow these guidelines for its use Variations in slump between trucks can be the result of many factors. Long delivery, waiting, and unloading times, for example, can decrease slump. Add water, if necessary, in accordance with ASTM C 94. Turn the drum an additional 30 ...

The slump flow test is used assess the horizontal free flow of self compacting concrete in the absence of obstructions. It was first developed in Japan for use in assessment of underwater concrete. The test method is based on the test method for determining the slump. T is the diameter of the concrete circle is a measure for the filling ability ...
For normal concrete ( not self compacting concrete, not super plasticiser added concrete), there is a direct relationship with concrete strength and slump. Slump the indior of workability, till a range, beyond which it is the indior of poor...
These are the actual concrete mix ratios for 3000, 3500, 4000, and 4500 psi concrete that I use to pour concrete floors, patios, pool decks and more. I'll show you the actual concrete batch plant ticket with the cement, sand, and aggregate break downs for the yards we used.
Table Concrete Slump (below) shows the nominal slump and maximum slump allowed for certain items of work. Note that the nominal slump for any of the listed work items can be increased to 6 inch (150 mm) if a high range water reducing (superplasticizing) admixture is used in the concrete.
This is called an initial slump. Note down. Don't mix the concrete mix continuously; otherwise, the mix will produce more heat, and it causes a decrease in the slump of concrete mix. Start the mixer at the 5minute interval for about 1 minute. Requirement of Workability. As we described, our requirement of a slump is 125 – 150 mm at the site.

Concrete Slump Testing Equipment. Concrete slump test equipment is used to measure the consistency and workability of fresh concrete, and indirectly, the water/cement ratio of the concrete mix. Gilson offers a complete selection of slump testing equipment meeting ASTM C143, AASHTO T 119, and BS 1881 standards for testing in the lab or field.
01/01/2018 · This test method covers determination of slump of concrete, both in the laboratory and in the field. The values stated in either SI units or inchpound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the inchpound units are shown in brackets.
The concrete ticket below shows a 3500 psi concrete mix for yards of concrete. The ticket breaks down the weights of the amount of cement, stone, and sand used to make the 3500 psi concrete. The actual weights used to make this yard load were: 1. Cement = 5,805 pounds. 2.
Slump value of Concrete. The concrete slump test measures the consistency of fresh concrete before it sets. It is performed to check the workability of freshly made concrete, and therefore the ease with which concrete flows. It can also be used as an indior of an improperly mixed batch. The test is popular due to the simplicity of the ...
